There is nothing that adds to the drama and scope of your 20,000 Leagues Nautilus display like sea life that is realistic and properly sized in relation to your boat. The sea-life miniatures being offered on this page are not of the same scale in relation to each other, but they are sized for display with Nautilus submarines of various sizes. Please carefully note the information that is provided on sizing for various boats for each of the miniatures so that you will be sure of getting a miniature that is within or close to the life-size scale for your boat. I have only provided equivalent sizing for boats up to the Master Replicas 31-inch model, with a few DryDocks 48-in., and of the sea-life miniatures offered, some do not achieve maximum life-size equivalence with all of the boats 31 inches and smaller, and so would be considered “juveniles” with those boats, while some others are obviously much larger than maximum life-size in relation to some boats. All the miniatures are made of a durable, poly-based material, hand painted, and the paint is child safe, and they are all designed for biological accuracy under the supervision of scientists, like the professor. They will not float if used in a fresh water tank—salt water unknown.
These miniatures have been laboratory tested and met all lead-safety requirements, certificated to specifically cover the new Lead and Phthalate standards set in place by the CPSIA. This includes the new 90ppm lead in paint standard and the 300ppm total lead standard. Please guard that the smaller miniatures (some of those in Group 2, like the Bottlenose Dolphins and Tiger Sharks) are not left unattended around children under four years of age, as they could be swallowed, which, although would not be toxic, could result in choking or airway obstruction with severe consequences.
Buyers also get the exclusive, large (more than 2X) version of the image at page top, below the banner, which was created with the 50th Anniversary boat and a large squid miniature, to use as a screensaver or wallpaper, plus another, surprise rendering. No one else has them except buyers of other 20,000 Leagues items. The digital rendering will be attached to the e-mail notifying you of shipping of the ordered miniature(s). The images should not be viewed with an overly bright monitor or one positioned to reflect glare from lights and windows, which will make images seem overexposed or washed out. View with monitor brightness at about 75% and adjust contrast to about 90% or until images have proper "punch" without flaring. The bottom-left section of the rendered image is supposed to be pretty dark-where the rudder fin is just visible, barely.

Nautilus Model Scales
Capt. Nemo’s fantastic submarine was hardly fantastic where size was concerned, at only 178 feet (54.86m) long, other than research or rescue subs, being smaller than any fuel-powered and crewed submarine ever in service. But scale is important where the purchase of appropriate sea-life miniatures is concerned, so we will begin with the scale of those of the popular Nautilus models that will be associated with the miniatures, which will also guide with comparisons of the miniatures’ scales, which all are different. There are a few makes of boats between 15 and 16 inches out there, so only the X-Plus® 15-inch scale is referenced, since the 15 - 15½ sizes are most numerous, and it’s easy to interpolate between the provided 15- and 17-inch scales. If the boat you have is a fraction of an inch different than listed, it won’t make any difference where the sea-life replicas suited to it are concerned, as the small adjustment will only amount to about a few feet or less in a miniature’s scale size in relation to the boat(s). For those of you fortunate enough to have the rare boats larger than 31 inches, if not listed or the chart listing is still pending, you should be able to extrapolate a size estimate from the data that is provided for the smaller boats of 31 inches and less. Also, please note the code assigned to each boat (in parenthesis) which will be associated with the sea-life miniatures to indicate appropriate, real-life matches:
- The Sega® 8.625-inch boat at 1/247.7 scale (S).
- The Comet® kit 12-inch boat at 1/178 scale (C).(Chart entries pending)
- The X-Plus® 15-inch boat at 1/142.4 scale (X).
- The Disney Tokyo Sea Die Cast® 16.18-inch boat at 1/132 scale (T).(Chart entries pending)
- The Brodeen crafted Icons® 17-inch boat at 1/125.6 scale (B).
- The Disney® 50th Anniversary 22¼-inch boat at 1/96 scale (D).
- The Master Replicas® (also Icons) 31-inch boat at 1/68.9 scale (M).
- The Nautilus Drydocks® 48-inch boat at 1/44.5 scale (DD48).(Some chart entries pending)
- And Nautilus Drydocks® 66-inch boat at 1/32.3 scale (DD66).(Chart entries pending)

All miniature scales and boat-match sizes are rounded off to the nearest whole number, but nearest 1/10 numbers were used in calculations.

As you can see, not all boats are listed for all miniatures. For instance, the squid is 10 inches long (from tip of tail fin to tip of the two, long, bendable tentacles, and it's 5 in. from tail to tips of the shorter, main tentacles, and is perfect for use with Nautilus models from the Disney 22¼-inch (D), where it is 80 feet, to the Master Replicas 31-inch (M), where it shrinks to just two feet below real-life max, at 57 feet. The squid’s still movie-realm size at 105 ft with the Icons 17-inch (B), and a very large monster, indeed, with the 15-inch X-Plus (X), at 119 feet, and just too big with the Sega 8-3/8 (S) version for Nemo to have survived, and so the “S” boat is not listed for it. Actually, only the Group 2 Sperm Whale is really matched to the small "S" boats. The squid is quite a bit larger than real life in the movieI estimate at 78 feet, so it’s even larger with the Disney boat, at 80 feet, but pretty close, too close to argue, while with the Master Replicas (M) boat it is still growing to its real-life maximum and will be a real juvenile with boats larger than 31 inches. There is an 18-inch, 1/39-scale squid, which is a 103-foot giant with "M" boats, and which looks and is constructed the same as the 10-inch squid, which is available for the larger boatsplease e-mail to inquire about purchase. The squid does look great, as do the others, with compatible boats, and they bring the boat and the whole display more to life. The tentacles on the squid even have tiny suction cups (artisticnot functional). The smaller tentacles can be adjusted to a limited extent to lay against the sub; I say "limited" because they want to stay somewhat in their molded shape, but the two long tentacles are completely bendable, so that you can wrap them around the hull or bend them to contour with the hull as it struggles to hold on and control the big "whale" it wants to have for dinner, or you can mate it with one of the whales for a real marine battle.
The Blue Whale is a beauty of a replica, and at 108 feet, max, is Earth’s largest mammal. It is one foot below real-life max with the “B” boats, and would be 76 feet with 24-inch boats, and is an average adult at 82 feet, which is 26 feet below real-life max with the “D” Disney boat, and more of a juvenile with the “M” boat and others larger than 31 inches. If your boat can handle its size, the Blue is a real beauty.
The Gray Whale is a bit large (maybe not so much in Nemo's day?) at just under 12 feet above its 52-foot max for the “X” boats, being 64 feet, equivalent scale, next to that boat, but at only four feet above max with the “B” boats (same close fit with the Sperm Whale and “D” boats), it’s perfect, and it's a near adult at nine feet below max with the “D” boats, and the Gray is almost needing it’s momma around with the “M” and larger boats. The Gray in this size is being discontinued (hopefully not so in real life), so only those now in stock are going to be available, and the color and detailing are beautiful.
The Killer Whale is a very close match for max with the "D" boats, at 28 feet (only two above real-life max), while with the "M" boats, it has only six feet more to grow to be a full-sized adult. It's a bit too large for the "B" 17-in boats, where it would be 37 feet, 11 above max, but your imagination is your call. You should get two, since the Killers are very social and almost always in pods, which is also true of most whales. But, this size of the Killer is also discontinued, so there are only those I have remaining in stock.
The newly added, Group 1 Manta Ray, Basking shark, Beluga Whale, and Narwhale are available in limited quantity. There is also a slightly smaller, baby Beluga, which, with the boats, is only a foot smaller at scale than the one pictured and for which it is provided scales. The Beluga is only five feet larger than life max with the Disney boat "D" and only a foot shorter than max with the Master Replicas 31-in. "M" boat.
If the Manta, Beluga, or Narwhal are selected, you will also receive a Group 2 Eagle Ray, and your choice of a 2¼-in. turtle (1:48 scale), that sized as a Leatherback Sea Turtle (9 ft max size) would be suitable for the Nautilus Dry Docks "DD48" 48-in. boat at 8 ft.; or, get a Thresher (Long Tailed) Shark (20 ft max length), which at 3.875 in (1:62 scale), would be suitable for the "M" boat, at 22 ft, or 14 ft with the "DD48" boat. If you have the "DD48" or "DD66" boats, there are other choices available for you, including walrus, manatee, and four species of dolphins. e-mail for details.

The Whale shark, shown above and below in close-up, swimming with the 15-in Sega Nautilus (X), near the diving hatch, is 3-½ inches, and in real life is the worlds largest fish, arguably growing to 50 feet, though it has been "rumored" to reach 60 feet. Next to the 15-inch boat, it is shown, at scale, near its higher-accepted, 50-foot maximum, at 42 feet. The three Humpback whales, frolicking around the rock to the right (above) which grow to be 49 feet, are from left to right, 3-1/16 inch (the Group 2 whale), 3 inch, and 2-5/8 inch, making them, at scale with the 15-inch X boat shown, within a foot apart from 36 feet for the first two, and 31 feet for the one on the rightgrowing juveniles. There are limited quantities of the two smaller Humback whales (center and right). The boat scales for the 3-1/16 inch Humpback are listed in the Group 2 chart (below). The 3-inch Humper is 31 feet with the Brodeen/Icons 17-inch boat (B), 24 feet with the Disney 50th Anniversary (D) boat, and 17 feet with the Master Replicas 31-inch boat (M), while the 2-5/8-inch Humper is 30 feet with the Brodeen/Icons 17-inch boat (B), 23 feet with the Disney 50th Anniversary (D) boat, and 17 feet with the Master Replicas 31-inch boat (M). If ordering the Humpback from Group 2 and you would rather have one of the other two, just let me know and I'll substitute as long as they're available.

Most authoritative sources put the largest Whale Shark measurement at 42 feet. Some say "can be" or "possibly can grow to" 60 feet, or even more vague, just saying "possibly larger than 42 feet." The figures provided are based upon the next-largest whale shark unverified reports, at 50 feet max. The largest verified size, 42 feet, happens to be the exact size of this Whale Shark shown above in relation to the 15-in Sega X-Plus boat (remember there is perspective compression, increasing as you move left, in this macro close-up image). But you can certainly go with the hypothetical 60-foot max for your smaller boat if you want to, though, with the 8-5/8-inch Sega boat, it's just too big, at 72 feet. At scale, it is 36 feet with the Brodeen/Icons 17-inch boat (B), 28 feet with the Disney 50th Anniversary (D) boat, and 20 feet with the Master Replicas 31-inch boat (M). It is available in very limited quantities (3 or 4 left). It's a pretty neat fish, though, and the largest in all the world, at 42 feet... or 60.

I have new species in stock now, some very limited, in sizes for most boats, which I have updated for Group 1 and will eventually get around to adding to the pictures and charts for Group 2. But until then, I will be very happy to let you know what I have that fits your boat(s), and the cost, if you e-mail with the size of your boat(s).Briefly, there are limited quantities of Great White (1:77.5 scale, 21 feet max) and Whale Sharks (largest fish, 1:171.4 scale at 50 ft max, though it is rumored - Nemo's day? - to have been as large as 60 ft, 1:205.7 scale), suitable for boats "D" thru "DD48" and a smaller-scale Blue Whale (1:432 scale) that would be suitable as a small adult to juvenile with boats ranging from "S" at 62 feet, X at 36 feet, B at 31 feet to "D" at 24 feet. And please do e-mail, including your boat's size, if you're interested, because I generally sell the short-stock items out through e-mail promotions to past buyers and as add-ons to sales from other outlets. I have not yet made the sea-life series for Nautilus boats available on eBay, and I probably will not until I have gotten around to updating the new-species inventory here.
