Going Home is provided by popular request for a Spitfire version.  It is an actual photograph of a beautiful, cumulous-filled sky with a CGI overlay of the famous British Spitfire that was Great Britain's only shield against the Nazi bombing onslaught in the Battle of Britain, for which the High Flight author, James McGee, Jr., volunteered.

This CGI-composite image is exclusively available through SkyScapes™, and the Spitfire overlay is very meticulously done and is indistinguishable from the other images where actual aircraft in flight are captured.  Like the other SkyScapes™ images, Going Home is also available with or without the overlay of High Flight.  This smaller image still makes a great wall-art hanging or gift for any pilot, aerospace professional, or enthusiast.  If you combine Going Home's 8½x11 print with a 3-inch mat and, say, a 2-inch frame, it will give you a really nice, approximately 21-inch-wide wall-hanging piece.  And, like the 13x19-inch sizes of the other SkyScapes™ images, Going Home's 8½x11 SkyScape will have the very same color saturation and resolution necessary to render the beauty of the scene, and will provide years and years of viewing enjoyment when properly displayed as any photograph should be.

The copyright mark does not appear on Going Home's prints and, as above, each print is custom made and inspected, and returns for refunds cannot be accepted.  Plus, you’ll also receive, by e-mail attachment, your choice of a 1024- or 1280-wide digital image of your SkyScape, with or without the High Flight overlay, to use in your screensaver or wallpaper list.

If you choose NOT to have the High Flight verse overlayed on your color print, you’ll have the option, for only $5 additional, to also receive the laser print of the verse, described on the main gallery page, on silver-border paper, suitable to frame and hang in conjunction with your print of Going Home.  That’s a 75-percent discount on the verse print.  Each print is custom made and inspected (no frame, mount, or mat—that effect is graphically shown here only to demonstrate one of many variations possible).  Returns for refunds cannot be accepted.

This beautiful flight-member's, eye-view image of mankind’s war-time passage through the ocean of air is overlayed with the most resonating poem on flight ever penned, High Flight.  The poem was written by John Gillespie Magee, Jr., who was an 18-year-old American when he went to Britain in October 1940, during World War II, to join the Royal Canadian Air Force.  He flew in a Spitfire squadron and was killed at age 19, on December 11, 1941, during a training flight from the airfield near Scopwick, Lincolnshire.  He wrote his poem on the back of a letter to his parents, which stated, “I am enclosing a verse I wrote the other day.  It started at 30,000 feet, and was finished soon after I landed.”

This High Flight overlayed, 8½x11 photograph, Going Home, places you in formation, racing to catch up to your leader in the distant British Spitfire fighter aircraft (captured through CGI overlay) as you both bank to return home after a successful engagement against Nazi raiders.  When ordered, the print will appear as shown above (no frame, mount, or mat—that effect is graphically shown here only to demonstrate one of many variations possible), the text color taken from the image pallet, most complimentary for legibility within the tonal range of the underlying image.  Each print is custom made and inspected.  Returns for refunds cannot be accepted.
